Subaru Outback Center Console Safe: 2020 – 2025

I've looked for something like this off and on over the years. This vault fills the bill on what I needed. Well built, easy install. I choose the key lock only because the other options looked clunky to me.

The compartment is small. My Hellcat barely fits without its slim holster. You could stow other small things in there as well. I used to have a small clamshell key safe under the passenger seat, but that wasn't great because you couldn't get easy access. This solves that issue.

Recommended.

Subaru Outback

Nicely fitting safe. It'll hold a loaded Hellcat and not much more. Reasonable space, just be prepared to lose storage in your center console if you are securing a firearm.

Pros: Solid, well-made, fits my EDC.
Cons: A bit pricey. Ultimately, it is only screwed into the plastic console--still more secure than a cable attachment.
Note: It is not a Tardis--if an item doesn't fit or just barely fits in the console, it won't fit inside a box that fits inside the console. It holds a 5 shot 1 1/4" J-frame snubby in an Uncle Mike's #3 soft pocket holster and several speed loaders just fine. If you have anything much bigger, or a hard side holster, I recommend measuring carefully before ordering.

The vault fits my legacy perfectly.

Mounting not as secure as I had hoped for. Good to keep out punks and dopers wanting a quick score. Could easily be extracted quickly with the appropriate tools. I knew it would be small, all that I can keep in it is a sub-compact pistol and not much else.
