I had read another review on Highlander vault and the need to grind a little bit to make it fit. This was spot on, so thank you Anita as I could not get it installed for the life of me without a Dremel. I reread directions 10x over and over and maneuvered it all kinds of ways but to no avail. It is the swing portion of the top piece will not swing upward due to hitting the plastic on each side. Be patient, I took 2-3 hours just to make sure. I used a Dremel to shave it in two places (one each side). It was surgical, precise and deliberate. I looked to see exactly where it was hitting and then shave a little of the plastic. Be very careful, maybe you won't need to but for the Highlander like mine, you might need to. Again, be careful.
That said, almost have it a four star, but I was so otherwise pleased with it because it is very snug and secure and it is hidden. I did not want an exterior vault and this is exactly what I was looking for.
Read and reread the directions. They are concise but deliberate. It is tricky to get this vault into the console because it is snug but it can be done. Be patient as it is snug and you will be very happy with results after you take your time to install. If you have a Highlander, you may need to Dremel a very small amount in to small locations. Do not assume you have to because it could be the console tolerances and you don't want to Dremel and then find out, you did it in wrong location or too much and then the vault is loose and then it is too late. I would say that if it doesn't fit , then contact the company first because once you Dremel there is no going back. That is why I too my time and several hours to install, I wanted to make sure. This was my experience, maybe other Highlander owners will not have issue, I don't know.
Otherwise, this is an awesome vault and looks very professional. It looks original and very secure. Awesome vault!
